The Therapy Place is delighted to be presenting this year’s “Davis Award” to Mrs. Marshall Foster on behalf of the Lipscomb Family Foundation. Much like last year’s inaugural recipient, Kim Conant – special needs care coordinator and founding board member, the Lipscomb Family Foundation joined The Therapy Place in its humble beginnings.
Executive Director and Co-Founder of The Therapy Place, Dawn Darby, remembers fondly her first meeting with Mrs. Foster. “I was a nervous wreck, having known the impact of the Foundation and what was at stake – making an ask from such a beloved Foundation, it was very intimidating.”
Darby and Foster met for breakfast and Darby presented the idea of The Therapy Place. She even took out her laptop to show pictures of her own son (Cooper) and co-founder Susan Abel’s son (Cameron) to demonstrate her personal reasons for wanting to start such a pediatric facility.
Foster and the Foundation believed in the cause and the need in our community. Initial funding purchased therapeutic equipment and helped with other start-up costs.
The Lipscomb Family Foundation then funded the start of TTP’s Bridges Therapeutic Preschool, the only of its kind in the midlands, and family support services, a much-needed wrap-around service for the 150+ families served.
“Although still nerve-wracking and quite humbling to submit requests for funding, I know that the Lipscomb Family Foundation will give us a good look, based on our history and their generous concern for children in our community.”
Please join The Therapy Place at the 6 th Annual Therapalooza: Shine On! where The Therapy Place will present the 2 nd annual “Davis Award” to Mrs. Marshall Foster and the Lipscomb Family Foundation for their unwavering support over the past 10 years making The Therapy Place a reality.
